A comprehensive assessment and examination is the initial experience at Wildwood Recovery.
Our professional team of experts looks at all the aspects of the client’s life. The medical assessment includes a complete history and physical to identify any underlying medical conditions requiring concurrent treatment. A psychiatric and psychological assessment is made to determine if there is any co-occurring mental illness. A chemical history is completed at this time to establish the extent and severity of the addiction. A lifestyle evaluation provides our team the information necessary to guide the treatment towards reaching a drug-free independent life away from the security of a controlled environment.
An assessment is necessary to determine a formal diagnosis and to provide a base for defining a treatment plan.
Our treatment goal is from 30 to 90 days, and to reach that goal, we must have adequate information to clearly define the best therapies and services required. Successful recovery is enhanced by the knowledge gained during the comprehensive examination.
Addiction Treatment & MAT
Medications
Medications used in MAT work in different ways to reduce cravings, alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and block the effects of certain substances. Some commonly used medications for OUD include methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. For AUD, medications such as naltrexone, acamprosate, and disulfiram are often used. These medications are prescribed by healthcare professionals and are an integral part of the treatment plan.
Comprehensive Treatment
MAT is most effective when combined with comprehensive addiction treatment. It involves a multidisciplinary approach that includes counseling, therapy, support groups, and other behavioral interventions. These components address the underlying causes of addiction, provide coping strategies, and support long-term recovery.
Individualized Treatment
MAT is tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Healthcare professionals conduct an assessment to determine the appropriate medication and dosage based on factors such as the substance used, the severity of addiction, medical history, and individual preferences. Regular monitoring and adjustment of medications ensure the best outcomes.
Harm Reduction
MAT follows a harm reduction approach, aiming to minimize the negative consequences of substance use and promote health and stability. By reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms, medications help individuals avoid relapse, improve overall functioning, and enhance their quality of life.
Long-Term Treatment
MAT is often viewed as a long-term treatment strategy rather than a short-term solution. It recognizes that addiction is a chronic condition and requires ongoing management. The duration of MAT varies for each individual, and treatment plans are regularly reassessed and adjusted based on progress and goals.
Supportive Environment
MAT programs provide a supportive environment that fosters recovery. This includes regular check-ins with healthcare providers, counseling sessions, and participation in support groups or peer support programs. The combination of medication and psychosocial support enhances the individual’s ability to overcome addiction and maintain long-term recovery.
Safety and Monitoring
Healthcare professionals closely monitor individuals undergoing MAT to ensure medication effectiveness, safety, and adherence. Regular check-ups, urine screenings, and ongoing communication help evaluate progress, address concerns, and make necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.
